I purchased a Benchmark popcorn machine for my home theater. It is the 4 oz Street Vendor model and comes with a display light, warming tray and old-maid tray (this is what they call the tray that collects the unpopped kernels in the bottom of the machine). It is also available in 6 and 8 oz versions.

I wanted an authentic theater experience so I also purchased a topping dispenser / warmer. I went with the Paragon Pro-style warmer with pump. It is a really heavy duty stainless steel design that uses a water bath to warm the topping. It could also be used for stuff like nacho cheese sauce, etc.

For topping I am currently using Supur-Kist NT. The NT stands for No Trans Fat. Apparently the version with trans fat tastes better, but I am going to stick with this version as I am kind of a fat bastard already and don’t want to put any extra stress on my heart. If you’re wondering what the difference between this stuff and butter is, the Supur-Kist is an oil and just coats the popcorn and doesn’t make it soggy like real butter. I find butter to be more salty than the Supur-Kist as well. The Supur-Kist doesn’t overpower the popcorn flavor and enhances it more, while butter seems to have more of an overpowering taste. I actually prefer the Supur-Kist NT. It’s also nice because you can just leave the topping right in the dispenser. It is totally shelf stable and doesn’t need to be refrigerated.

If you are feeling brave and would prefer the stuff that still has trans fat in it, then you can order it below:
